Architect Wanted for Vietnam War Museum
The Texas Tech University System released a Request for Qualifications calling for design professionals. The project? The Vietnam Center and Archive and Museum of the Vietnam War. The university, which is based in Lubbock TX, is looking for Statements of Qualifications for designs that will eventually lead to replacing the existing Vietnam Center and Archive on the school’s campus at 2500 Broadway.
The current museum has an extensive collection of Vietnam War era artifacts and records. In addition to documents and photographs, Texas Tech has received uniforms, weapons and even helicopters.
The university envisions the initial size of the new center, which will be outside the northwest Loop 289, at approximately 70,000 square feet. The square footage will include a portion of warehouse storage that is adjacent to the facility. The university’s board of regents has allocated 12 acres for the new building.
Bids are due by June 7, 2018.
