Apple Facility Could Stall BART’s Progress
A top-secret industrial facility occupied by Apple could be the site of a 12-acre battle between the tech giant and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority. Since moving into a warehouse building at 335 Brokaw Rd in Santa Clara, CA last year, Apple has reportedly invested more than $20 million to build out an R&D lab.
Unfortunately, it is the same site the transportation authority planned to use as a construction staging ground, and eventually house a Santa Clara station plaza, parking, and equipment – not to mention a mixed-use village. It is part of BART Silicon Valley, a planned six-mile extension of the commuter rail line.
The Apple site is one of more than 100 commercial sites from Milpitas to Santa Clara identified for relocation.
