Appeals Court Rules in Favor of Long-Delayed Corpus Christi Project

An appellate court judge has ruled in favor of the long discussed, $300-million Barisi Village development in Corpus Christi.

The Italian-inspired development, planned for what was once the Pharaoh Valley golf course, has been halted for several years as a lawsuit centering on deeds and property rights has been fought in court.

The Corpus Christi Caller Times reported that the Texas 13th Court of Appeals upheld an earlier Nueces County District Court ruling that supported a neighbor’s petition backing the development.

Barisi Village is being developed on a 127-acre property by Jeff Blackard, CEO of McKinney-based Blackard Companies. “We have been on a mission for almost eight years to bring a NeoRetroism-style village to this part of Texas,” he said. “I’m very excited to finally be able to continue the work that we’ve started and see the project into its next phase very soon.”
