Antonio Vendome Wins Arts Award

Real estate developer Antonio “Nino” Vendome, chairman of the Vendome Group, joined the stars of Broadway theatre Sept. 11, 2017, to receive the Outstanding Contribution to the Arts and Humanities award at the first annual Chita Rivera Awards for Dance and Choreography at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City.

The award recognizes Vendome’s contributions to the arts. He commissioned architect Philip Johnson to create “The Habitable Sculpture” design for a 27-story residential building. Vendome has also operated Studio Vendome, a fine arts gallery in lower Manhattan. He has invested in Broadway and Off Broadway productions, and has documentary and feature film projects in development.

Vendome started his storied career in 1973 on Spring Street in New York City’s Hudson Square neighborhood with a sandwich shop. That sandwich shop grew into a successful chain of restaurants, then to a significant real estate portfolio.
