Andeavor – Formerly Tesoro – Snaps Up Convenience Stores

The newly minted Andeavor Corp. of San Antonio acquired 39 Flyers Energy-owned convenience stores in California and Nevada. Andeavor, formerly Tesoro, was rebranded following its $6.4 billion purchase by Western Refining earlier in 2017. The Andeavor name launched Aug. 1.

The move effectively puts the Auburn, CA-headquartered Flyers Energy out of the retail business, while boosting Andeavor’s presence in Northern California. Andeavor plans to rebrand some of the Flyers locations as Mobil, Exxon, ARCO and Shell. The new owner has up to 12 months to rename the stations.

“Refiners are looking for strategies to distribute their products, so the business climate was right for us to sell our retail stores,” said Flyers managing partner Walt Dwelle.
