Amazon’s Economic Engine Adds More Horsepower in IE

Seattle-based Amazon continues to expand in California, adding two new fulfillment facilities, including one in Eastvale, and another in Tracy. Amazon’s California presence has expanded to nine state-of-the-art fulfillment centers, representing nine million square feet of operations and approximately 14,000 employees.

The online retail behemoth currently operates fulfillment centers in Moreno Valley, Redlands, Rialto and San Bernardino, as well as a sorting center in San Bernardino.

Both new facilities total roughly a million square feet, and are expected to create more than 1,500 jobs. At the Eastvale location, Amazon workers will pick, pack and ship smaller customer items, such as books, electronics and toys.

Eastvale’s mayor Ike Bootsma says, “We have seen Amazon’s growth and impact in neighboring cities, and the company’s announcement is great news for our community.”
