Amazon Shopping for New Facility in Houston
Seattle-based Amazon.com Inc. is exploring a new $136-million fulfillment center in Northwest Houston’s Pinto Business Park. The online retail giant is making plans to develop an 855,000-square-foot warehouse in the 971-acre campus.
Amazon could bring 1,000 jobs to the area along with an economic impact of $172.9 million annually, but is also reportedly seeking an abatement to lower its taxes to 65% for 10 years.
The Houston-based JV developing Pinto Business Park includes Hines and Pinto Real Estate Development, Inc. along with New York-based investment firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Company LP. The park could include nine million square feet of space at build-out.
