Amazon Leases Bronx Space for “Last Mile” Deliveries

Amazon has leased a 120,000-square-foot warehouse facility in Hunts Point in the Bronx, with plans to develop a “last-mile” delivery station. The facility at 1300 Viele Ave. will be the company’s first such delivery station in the borough.

Delivery stations allow e-commerce companies to make quick shipments to customers after initial sorting in a larger facility, such as the 975,000-square-foot warehouse that Amazon will soon occupy on Staten Island.

“We are excited to continue our investment in New York to speed up delivery times for customers and provide great job opportunities for the talented workforce,” according to a statement from Amazon.

The e-tailing giant has company in the Bronx. Walmart’s Jet.com leased a former ABC Carpet warehouse on Bronx River Avenue last year.

Also in 2018, a partnership of Innovo Property Group and Square Mile Capital purchased the former site of Whitestone Multiplex Cinemas, with plans to develop a multi-level, 840,000-square-foot facility.
