Amazon Commits to 1M SF in Queens

Amazon has signed a lease for one million square feet at a property owned by RXR Realty and LBA Logistics in Maspeth, Queens. The online retailer’s largest commitment in New York City to date, it comes on the heels of Amazon taking over Prologis-owned space in the Bronx earlier this month.

The building will be at 55-15 Grand Ave., the site of a former factory that will be demolished to make way for a new warehouse, the New York Business Journal reported.

Of the total space, the warehouse itself will be less than 300,000 square feet, an Amazon spokeswoman told the Business Journal. The square footage also includes a parking structure.

The new facility will join the Bronx site and Amazon’s existing warehouses on Staten Island. Amazon reportedly is also negotiating to lease 620,000 square feet of office and warehouse space in Brooklyn’s Red Hook neighborhood.
