Amazon Announces $1.5B Prime Air Hub
Giant retailer Amazon announced it would make a giant investment at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport to support its fleet of Prime Air cargo planes. Specifically, the Seattle-headquartered company will invest $1.49 billion to build on up to 900 acres on the airport’s property in Hebron, KY.
Amazon received tax incentives of up to $40 million from the state of Kentucky as part of the agreement. The activity will create up to 2,700 full-time and part-time jobs, as it builds out the hub over several years. Plans call for Amazon to build a sorting, loading and unloading facility on the airport property.
Amazon currently employs more than 10,000 people at several fulfillment centers in Central and Northern Kentucky.
