Amazon Adds Fulfillment Facility in Central Florida
Amazon.com, Inc. plans to open a more than 850,000-square-foot fulfillment center in Orlando, Fla. The $26.9-million, highly-technological workplace featuring Amazon Robotics is slated to deliver in 2018, and the ecommerce giant expects to add 1,500 new full-time jobs.
The project is being developed in a partnership between Atlanta-based Seefried Industrial Properties and an affiliate of USAA Real Estate Company. Tavistock Development Company entitled and sold the property, and will develop the project infrastructure.
Located at Lake Nona on Boggy Creek Road and Jeff Fuqua Boulevard, just south of Orlando International Airport, the facility will be used to pick, pack and ship small items like books, electronics or consumer goods to customers.
Amazon has created more than 4,000 full-time jobs in Florida since building its first fulfillment center in the state in 2013. The new fulfillment center will bring Amazon’s workforce in the Sunshine State to more than 9,000.
