Alton Plaza at the Petroleum Building Nears Completion

A little more than a year after Saigebrook Development began renovating Longview, TX’s 66-year-old Petroleum Building into affordable housing, the project is close to completion. The developer filed for a certificate of occupancy in early December 2019 on the re-named Alton Plaza at the Petroleum Building, and indicated that construction will be completed by late January, 2020.

The apartments at 202 E. Whaley St. are geared toward residents and families earning approximately 50%-60% of the area’s median income, which is just below $60,000. Four apartments are being set aside for residents earning 30% of the AMI, with an additional 15 units leased at the market rate.

Lisa Stephens with Saigebrook told the Longview Business-Journal that about 60% of the complex has been pre-leased. The property offers studios, as well as one and two-bedroom units, with amenities including a community theater room/library, cybercafé and fitness center.

Connect Houston will take place Feb. 4 in Houston. For more information, or to register, click here.
