All-Systems Go for Apple Autonomous Car Testing in CA
Apple will put its pedal to the metal in self-driving car technology, after getting the green light from the state of California to test autonomous vehicles. The permit allows tests drives with six drivers in three vehicles, all of which are 2015 Lexus RX-450h.
“Apple is investing heavily in the study of machine learning and automation, and is excited about the potential of automated systems in many areas, including transportation,” indicated Steve Kenner, the company’s director of product integrity.
Apple joins a roster of companies testing self-driving cars, including Google-parent Alphabet, Ford, Volkswagen, Daimler, Tesla and GM.
