AI Developer Swivels into Meatpacking District

Serkan Piantino, formerly a key executive at Facebook, is bringing his new start-up company, Spell Inc., to the William Kaufman Organization’s 2 Gansevoort St. in the Meatpacking District. The artificial intelligence developer is the first tenant to sign a lease for one of WKO’s Swivel pre-built units.

The 3,604-square-foot pre-built that Spell will occupy will house about a dozen employees. It features an efficient floorplate and rotating wall, along with full access to Swivel’s communal core area.

“Spell is the exact type of tenant we envisioned for Swivel when we launched this project at 2 Gansevoort Street earlier this year,” said Jonathan Kaufman Iger, CEO of WKO and Sage Realty Corporation. WKO, which is negotiating deals for the other pre-builts at 2 Gansevoort, plans more Swivels downtown and in Midtown.

Michael Lenchner, VP and director of leasing at Sage Realty Corporation, represented both ownership and the tenant in the transaction.
