After 29 Years, Nordstrom Says ‘Goodbye’ to OC Mainstay
Nordstrom is closing its store at Santa Ana’s MainPlace Mall later this spring. The 169,000-square-foot department store, which opened in 1987, was one of the Seattle-based luxury retailer’s oldest in Orange County.
Dallas-based Centennial Real Estate Co., and partners Montgomery Street Partners and USAA Real Estate Co., which own and operate the mall, say plans are in the works to acquire and redevelop the space. The closure will impact roughly 195 non-seasonal employees that Nordstrom will try to relocate to one of 18 nearby stores.
Nordstrom still has Orange County stores at South Coast Plaza, Fashion Island, Irvine Spectrum Center, Brea Mall and The Shops at Mission Viejo. As well as, Rack locations in Tustin, Outlets at Orange, Metro Pointe in Costa Mesa, Edinger Plaza in Huntington Beach, Brea Union Plaza, Laguna Hills Mall and Laguna Niguel.
