Abilene P&Z Approves 87-Acre Rezoning

Abilene Christian University was granted its request to rezone 87 acres at the intersection of Judge Ely Boulevard and Ambler Avenue into a retail and residential development called Village at Allen Ridge. The Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved the request to turn the property into a Planned Development District.

The rezoning helps pave the way for development of retail stores, restaurants, offices, housing and parks. The next step is approval from the city council. If approved, the project will take years to build out. Depending on approval, construction could begin within the next six-to-nine months.
