Abilene Approves $28M Park Master Plan

The Abilene, TX city council approved a master plan for the future redevelopment of the 174-acre Grover Nelson Park. The park will be built at a cost of $28 million. No construction date has been set just yet, however, the city envisions the park at Parson’s Road and SH 36 in the city’s southeast quadrant as a location to provide more recreational activities.

To that end, the council gave the Abilene Youth Sports Authority permission to raise funds for construction of a youth sports facility at the park. AYSA has 20 months to raise the $7.5 million necessary to develop the building.
