AAF Awards Final Franchise to San Antonio

Alliance of American Football (AAF) will announce today that San Antonio is its eighth – and final – franchise. The San Antonio Wings will play home games at the city owned Alamodome. Terms of the rental agreement are not yet available.

The league’s inaugural 10-week season will launch Feb. 9, 2019, the week after the Super Bowl, and will run through April. Other cities sporting teams will include Atlanta; Birmingham, AL; Memphis, TN; Orlando, FL, Phoenix; Salt Lake City and San Diego.

The AAF describes itself as “high-quality professional football, fueled by a dynamic alliance between players, fans and the game,” according to its website. Fans will be able to stream matchups through a specialized app, while players will have “state-of-the-art protection on the field and ample opportunities off it,” the website added.
