A REIT For Organic Farms
Iroquois Valley Farms isn’t a farm, despite how colorful the name is. Rather, it’s a real estate investment trust with the sole purpose of investing in land leased to farmers, who are converting their conventional operations to organic growth. The Evanston, IL-based Iroquois Valley Farms has two offerings on tap in the coming months.
Later this month, the REIT will issue a $5 million to $7 million offering for “Soil Restoration Notes,” which will help millennial farmers transition their land through short-term loans. And, in April, Iroquois will issue $15 million of REIT shares to accredited investors. The company also plans to issue offerings for non-accredited investors in the third and fourth quarters of this year, with the goal of raising at least $20 million.
