A Former Lot’s Conversion into Green Space

A two-acre patch of asphalt at the southern edge of the former Highland Mall site in Austin is being converted into a green, public park. The project is being spearheaded by Austin Community College, which owns the property, in partnership with Austin developer RedLeaf Properties.

Work is underway on the park near the former Dillard’s women’s store, with completion anticipated for fall 2017. The park is one of three planned for the mall site at Airport Boulevard in Central Austin.

Also planned on the site is a mixed-use component, featuring residential, offices, a hotel and restaurants.
