85-Foot Art Installation Pays Homage to RBG
Installation of a five-story public art piece celebrating the life of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was completed this week on the exterior wall at 2 West Santa Clara. The 85-foot high installation will be visible throughout downtown San Jose and illuminated at night.
The piece was developed from original artwork by Stanford alum and San Bruno-based artist Chuba Oyolu, a former biomedical engineer and molecular biologist.
The mural celebrates the life of Ginsburg, who was appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court as an associate justice in 1993 and served until her death in September 2020. Ginsburg served as the general counsel of the American Civil Liberties Union from 1973 to 1980 and was a fellow at Stanford’s Center of Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences in the late 1970s.
The revitalized office building at the corner of North First and West Santa Clara streets is owned and managed by DivcoWest.
