7-Eleven to Bring New Retail Concept to D.C.

Retail chain 7-Eleven has announced plans for a nationwide expansion of a new concept that will feature a Mexican restaurant, touch-screen machines and mobile payment options.

The retailer opened the second location of its new Evolution Store concept in Washington D.C. at 504 K St. NW on Feb. 26. The concept features Mexican food from Laredo Taco Co. that will be made in-store each day, as well as touch-screen machines for ordering drinks like cold brew coffee and lattes. Customers will also be able to pay on mobile devices using the 7-Eleven app, in lieu of waiting in line. New offerings will also include a frozen yogurt bar and ice cream, as well as fresh-baked pastries. Select locations will also include a section devoted to wines and craft beer.

“7-Eleven’s mission is to give convenience customers what they want, when and where they want it,” said Joe DePinto, president and CEO at 7-Eleven. “Our evolution stores bring outstanding innovation to life through new food and beverage platforms, as well as through digital experiences.”
