48-Unit Oso Affordable Complex Opens on North Side

Evergreen Real Estate joined Ald. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa and city and state housing officials recently for the grand opening of the Oso Apartments, which provides 48 units of affordable housing to the North Side’s Irving Park and Albany Park communities.

“The completion of Oso Apartments is a significant achievement, as it shows how previously underutilized sites can be reimagined as thoughtfully-designed housing that supports the economic diversity of our city,” said David Block, director of development at Evergreen.

The five-story building at 3435 W. Montrose Ave. includes 32 one-bedroom and 16 two-bedroom apartments, with community and laundry rooms and other amenities. The Chicago Housing Authority approved the $10-million project in 2018, and construction was completed less than a year later.

Evergreen recently cut the ribbon on another Irving Park project, Independence Apartments, a six-story, 44-unit affordable senior rental community located above the new Independence Branch Library.

Connect Chicago Fall 2019 will take place Oct. 29 in Chicago. For more information, or to register, click here.
