300-Unit MF MXU Moves Through Minnesota Planning Paces
A mixed-use development with more than 300-units of multifamily continues to move through the planning process in Edina, a suburb of Minneapolis. The latest plan is to replace an aging parking ramp and two office buildings with two separate six-story complexes, encompassing a mix of apartments, townhouses and retail space.
DJR Architecture’s design now includes a pedestrian-friendly promenade connecting a pair of parcels at France Avenue and Gallagher Drive, across the street from the Centennial Shops retail center.
The city requested the two parcels be developed together. That includes a property at 7250 France Ave. owned by developer Bonjean Properties, and another held by Minneapolis developer Jim Eischens at 7200 France Ave.
Eischens’ project would include a U-shaped building with 150 apartments, 14 townhouses, as well as 10 stand-alone townhouses. Bonjean’s property would have 126 apartments and nine townhouses, along with nearly 30,000 square feet of retail space.
