28 Acres Acquired for Rail Reactivation

Owners of the San Jacinto River & Rail Park (SJRR) in far northeast Houston acquired 28.6 acres of undeveloped land adjoining the park on the Union Pacific Rail Line. Clay Pritchett with NAI Partners represented the buyer. The undisclosed seller was unrepresented. The sales price was also not disclosed.

According to a release from NAI Partners, the land buy was a critical step in expanding SJRR’s infrastructure, ahead of a planned rail reactivation that will take place in summer. Pritchett told Connect Media that the land owner has been in the process of working toward fulfilling Union Pacific’s requirements.

San Jacinto River & Rail on 18511 Beaumont Hwy. is an 872-acre site that once housed the Champion Paper Mill. The Waisburd family acquired the site, with its 3.5-mile (inactive) rail line, in January 2012.
