14 Forward to Grow Economy in Killeen

The 14 Forward Economic Development Initiative has been launched by business community leaders in Killeen, TX, along with the Killeen Chamber of Commerce. The program hopes to raise $2 million through a private-sector campaign to help grow the area economy along the Interstate 14/US 190 corridor. The campaign is being managed by the nonprofit Fort Hood Region Economic Development Foundation.

Interstate 14 is a 25-mile stretch of what was formerly US 190, stretching from Belton, through Killeen, and on to Fort Hood Army base. The highway was christened an interstate in April 2017.

Local businessman Bill Klewer indicated that Killeen is being viewed differently because of the interstate designation. “Our community and region have to get creative and work together to strengthen our position in a competitive world for economic development,” he said at the 14 Forward kickoff event.
