114K-SF Xcel Building in Amarillo Close to Complete

Construction on Xcel Energy’s new office building in Amarillo, TX is close to being complete. Much of the exterior of the building on Buchanan Street is finished, with Xcel indicating that the project’s second phase will focus on interior construction. Xcel hopes to have the building occupied by May.

The Opus Group launched construction on the building in May of last year, the first large-scale office development in downtown Amarillo since the 1980s. The new asset, going north at a cost of $42 million, can hold up to 525 employees. Xcel, located in downtown’s Chase Tower, currently employs 300 in the Amarillo area.
