$500M Data Center on Tap at RailPort Business Park

Midlothian, TX, which is approximately 25 miles southwest of Dallas, could house a mammoth data center that would cost $500 million and create 40 jobs. The Midlothian City Council has offered property tax abatements to a company called Sharka LLC for development of a center at RailPort Business Park on U.S. 67. Not much is known about Sharka LLC, though according to the state of Texas, the company incorporated in early 2018.

Midlothian Economic Development was somewhat coy about the business as well, only indicating that “we have a couple of industrial parks, and we have been recruiting companies directly across the country,” according to the EDC’s Larry Barnett.

RailPort Business Park is a 1,600-acre business park that is zoned heavy-industrial to light commercial. The park is served by both Burlington Northern Santa Fe and Union Pacific.

The Connect Industrial conference will take place July 11. For more information, or to register, log on here.
