$4.9B LAX People Mover Contract Approved
LAX Integrated Express Solutions (LINXS) was awarded a $4.9-billion, 30-year contract to design, construct and operate the planned people mover at Los Angeles International Airport. The Los Angeles World Airports Board of Commissioners awarded the contract to the consortium comprised of seven prime contractors including:
– Fluor Corp., Irving, TX
– Balfour Beatty, London
– ACS Infrastructure Development, Coral Gables, FL
– Dragados USA, New York
– Hochtief PPP Solutions, Essen, Germany
– Flatiron Construction, Broomfield, CO
– Bombardier Transportation, Montreal
The Los Angeles City Council will review the contract later this year, with a tentative completion in 2023. It is the centerpiece of a $5.5 billion plan to modernize access to the airport leading up to the 2028 Olympic Games, by connecting LAX’s central terminal with a station for the Crenshaw/LAX and Metro Green light rail lines, as well as a consolidated car rental facility.
The contract increased $400 million to allow for flexibility in interest rates for financing over the three decades of planned construction.
