$250M Minneapolis Data Center Underway for U.S. Bank

Dallas-based Stream Data Centers is building a $250-million data center for U.S. Bank in Minneapolis. Construction commenced on the 56,000-square-foot facility, with delivery set for December 2017.

The single-story, structurally-enhanced data center will offer redundant utility power from two separate substations, and will be designed to support 2.4 MW of IT load across two data halls. The new facility is located roughly 30 miles southwest of Minneapolis in Chaska, MN, across the street from UnitedHealth Group’s data center (pictured).

Stream Data Centers’ Rob Kennedy says, “The Twin Cities are rapidly becoming a major national data center market.”

More than 25 new or refurbished data centers have been completed in Minnesota since 2012, representing a capital investment of more than $2 billion. Much of this growth is fueled by the state’s sales tax incentive, passed in Q3 2013.
