$125M Overture Reaches For High Note in San Diego
San Francisco-based Presidio Bay Ventures and Sloan Capital seek city approvals to build Overture, a $125-million, 40-story residential tower in downtown San Diego. The development group envisions a 282-unit project that incorporates a re-creation of a portion of the California Theater building.
The urban infill project will require demolition of a nine-story building and movie palace that’s been closed for decades at Fourth Ave. and C St.
Martinez + Cutri architects’ design vision includes replicating the original Spanish Colonial-styled facades, as well as a new “California” theater sign and marquee.
San Diego planning department officials will review the project next month, with final City Council approvals expected in mid-July. The demolition work is slated to start next year, and Overture could be completed by early 2019.
