$10M FAST Lane Expansion Coming to Laredo
In November 2016, the city of Laredo, TX submitted a proposal to the federal government for addition of a fast lane at World Trade Bridge, linking the city to Nuevo Laredo in Mexico. The city recently received good news from Congressman Henry Cuellar, who said federal officials approved the city’s $10.3 million FAST Lane Expansion Project.
“Laredo is the third-ranked port of entry in the entire nation, and an economic engine for Texas,” Cuellar said. “The project is good for businesses, the city and the country.” Laredo’s Mayor Pete Saenz somewhat more practically said that the fast lane will “greatly enhance the free flow of commercial truck traffic” across the border.
The project will relocate FAST lanes to a new site on the north side customs and border control compound, providing FAST trucks a more direct route from the bridge, into a new FAST inspection facility, and on to their final destinations.
