Aligned Starts Construction on Second Hyperscale Data Center in Ashburn

Data center provider Aligned has begun construction on the expansion of its hyperscale data center campus in Ashburn. Work has started on a second 120 MW facility in Loudoun County. The expansion is driven by customer demand for additional capacity.

Building on the existing 370,000 square-foot, 60 MW Ashburn data center completed in 2019, the adjacent new 513,000-square-foot facility will add 120 MW upon completion. At full build, Aligned’s master-planned Ashburn hyperscale campus will offer approximately one million square feet of space and 180 MW of capacity. The campus sits positioned atop fiber and conduit routes that offer access to more than 50 carriers in the immediate area.

“The first phase of Aligned’s Ashburn data center campus was completed in approximately six months, and we’re now on target to deliver the initial phase of our second Ashburn facility, a fully-commissioned 40 MW, by the close of 2020,” said Andrew Schaap, CEO at Aligned. “Aligned’s intelligent and adaptable data center platform, combined with an advanced supply chain methodology, ensures that customers can rapidly deploy infrastructure where and when they need it.”
