Parkside Apartments Planned on Former Kmart Property
The architect and civil engineer of the proposed 180-unit Parkside Apartments have applied to Longview (Texas) Development Services for review and permission to build the apartment on part of an 11.4-acre site that once held a former Kmart store. Once the proposal clears the approval process, Plano architect Steve E. Sullivan and Whitney Walker with Tyler-based Crosspoint Engineering LLC will work on converting the property at 1100 McCann Rd. in Longview into a one and two-bedroom apartment complex.
Sullivan told the Longview News-Journal that he anticipates construction beginning in early-to-mid 2019, with the timeline ranging from eight months to one year to completion. The gated community will offer a clubhouse/office building, swimming pool and children’s playground.
In addition, Longview Development LLC is planning to convert the 105,000-square-foot Kmart building into 500-600 self-storage units branded as Simply Stor it. The Kmart store closed in 2016.
Connect Houston is taking place in February 2019. For more information — or to attend — click here.
