Phoenix’s Shipping Container Concept Anchored and Opening
There’s no denying that retail concepts are changing to meet the needs of consumers and provide unique experiences. Taking the global to a local level, The Churchill, a retail-restaurant project, is slated to open on September 1 at First and Garfield Streets in downtown Phoenix’s Roosevelt Row arts district.
The 14,000-square foot hangout, designed by Local Studio, will feature a courtyard for up to 300 people, a rooftop deck, local art, and 10 tenants spanning from restaurants and bars to retail stores. Perhaps most interestingly, the entire project is made from old seaport shipping containers, and is bringing new meaning to reusing and recycling.
The Churchill co-founders Kell Duncan and Hartley Roadie said, “The Churchill has an intensely local focus, from our tenants, to lending a helping hand to the surrounding neighborhoods.”
