Nordstrom Bites in the Big Apple

While some retailers are filing for bankruptcy, others are testing new concepts to compete with e-commerce and integrate experiential retail into their existing stores. Seattle-based Nordstrom is launching its first full-line store in Manhattan, with a special twist.

The three-story shop, located at 57th Street and Broadway in Midtown Manhattan, will offer clothes only for men along with a dozen tailors, 24-hour pickup, shoes, and grooming supplies. The retailer will also boast a bar, or the option for a store employee to bring the shopper a drink as they browse. New York makes up a major share of the store’s online orders, and this will be the retailer’s debut in the city.

Recently,  Nordstrom Senior Vice President of Customer Experience, Shea Jensen, said “We are focused on our customers and finding ways to deliver great experiences to them in what continues to be an ever-changing environment.” The high-end retailer is also planning to open a store solely for women across the street in the fall of 2019.
