New President of NAR Resigns Amid Blackmail Threats
The National Association of Realtors (NAR) president has resigned due to alleged blackmail threats. NAR President Tracy Kasper informed the organization’s leadership that “she recently received a threat to disclose a past personal, non-financial matter unless she compromised her position at NAR.”
Kasper had only served in her role for several months. She will be replaced by President-elect Kevin Sears. Her sudden departure is another setback for the beleaguered organization. Kasper’s resignation comes as the NAR has seen a series of leadership changes brought on by legal challenges and a sexual misconduct scandal.
Kasper’s predecessor as president, Kenny Parcell, resigned last year after claims he had sexually harassed women colleagues. In October of 2023, a federal jury found NAR and some residential brokerages, including units of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway and Keller Williams, liable for $1.78 billion in damages for conspiring to artificially inflate commissions for home sales.
