DFW Airport Begins $9B Renovation
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport has kicked off a $9 billion capital improvement plan that includes more than 180 projects, including the renovation of Terminal C and the incoming sixth Terminal F. All told, the airport plans to add 24 new gates with the potential to grow even more, expand concessions and modernize its systems as it approaches 100 million passengers a year. More than 82 million passengers came through DFW Airport last year. That number is expected to approach 90 million this year.
The renovation at Terminal C will provide customers with all-new facilities, including shops and restaurants, lounge space, check-in areas, security checkpoints and improved restrooms.
Airport officials expect to complete the overall reconstruction of Terminal C in 2030.
DFW awarded the design-build contract for Terminal C’s first phase and expansion, as well as the Terminal A expansion, to a joint venture comprised of Austin Commercial, Azteca Enterprises Inc. and Alpha & Omega Industries LLC, with HOK and Muller & Muller Ltd. as design team members.
