Downtown Seattle Welcomes First UNIQLO Store

Former Bon Marché, Macy’s Stores Get New Life

Seattle-based Urban Renaissance Group LLC (URG) and investment firm KKR recently acquired the 300 Pine St. building in downtown Seattle. The price was undisclosed.

Originally home to Seattle’s beloved Bon Marché department store, the art deco-style building was constructed in 1929 with four additional stories added in 1955. Macy’s took over the location in 2003 through the next 17 years before closing the store in 2020.

Located on a full city block between 3rd and 4th avenues, the rehabbed 770,000-square-foot eight-story mixed-use building will feature 85,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, along with a new 4th Avenue entrance to access the office space currently fully leased to a single tenant. The office portion will feature 80,000-square-foot floorplates and more than 20 skylights.

The renovated landmark building will feature a timeless facade, a rooftop deck, and 15-foot tall ceilings with ornate colonnades and architectural features that originate from 1920s-era department stores. It will be named The Bon Marché Collective in honor of the building’s history.

The ground-level retail space will be located above the underground Westlake light rail station.
