Lucid Motors’ First EV Factory Delivers in Arizona

Lucid Motors completed construction on its first electric vehicle factory in Casa Grande and entered the commissioning process. Known as Lucid AMP-1 (Advanced Manufacturing Plant), the facility is a first for the Newark, CA-based company, and also the first greenfield, dedicated EV factory to be built in North America.

The nearly one-million-square-foot facility is located on a 590-acre site at Peters and Thornton roads. Lucid plans to invest more than $700 million in the plant by 2028, expanding it to more than five million square feet, and growing its manufacturing capacity to 400,000 vehicles per year.

The first cars will start coming off the Arizona line in Spring 2021, with an initial capacity of up to 30,000 units annually. The next phase of expansion is expected to begin in 2021, enabling production of Project Gravity, Lucid Motors’ SUV.

Lucid plans to open 24 studios and service centers throughout North America by the end of 2021.
