CBRE has been retained by Sanders Equities to lease 1085 Old Country Rd., a 192,000-square-foot building in Westbury, NY. Currently occupied by regional department store Century 21, the building will be repositioned for industrial use.
“With the demand for distribution and last-mile spaces skyrocketing in today’s market, Sanders’ redevelopment of 1085 Old Country Rd. comes at an opportune time for tenants seeking warehouse and distribution centers that accommodate their contemporary operational needs,” said CBRE’s Paul Leone. He and colleague Margaret Tutone will lead the assignment.
Sanders Equities demolished several industrial buildings in the mid-1990s to build Century 21’s first location outside of New York City. “Today, with the retail industry stressed and industrial space in Nassau County boasting historically low vacancy rates, we decided to turn the clock back to the future to achieve this location’s highest and best use,” said chairman Arthur Sanders.
