Dark since last March although their counterparts in other parts of the state have reopened, movie theaters in New York City may reopen with limited capacity on March 5, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday. Reserved seating will be required.
Cuomo also said pool halls may reopen on March 5 with limited capacity: 50% outside New York City and 35% in the city. On March 15, weddings and catered events may resume statewide, with mandatory COVID-19 testing required of all attendees and attendance limited to 150 per venue.
“Thanks to the hard work and commitment of all New Yorkers, our infection rate is now the lowest we’ve seen in three months,” said Cuomo. “As our infection rate continues to fall, and the vaccination rate continues to climb, we will keep reopening different sectors of our state’s economy and focus our efforts on building our state back better than it was before.”
