Construction Begins on Brooklyn Supportive Housing

Comunilife and NYC Health + Hospitals broke ground August 16, 2017, on the construction of a new six-story residential building on the campus of NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull, near Brooklyn’s Broadway Triangle neighborhood.

The $28 million building at 179 Throop Ave. will include 89 studio apartments affordable to low-income people, with 54 set aside as supportive housing for patients of the campus who have behavioral health issues and are eligible for medical discharge but have no permanent housing to be released into.

“These supportive housing units will go a long way to helping the residents who live here be their healthiest selves,” said Dr. Herminia Palacio, deputy mayor for health and human services.
