2020 Next Generation Honoree: MDA’s Sara Agudelo Leads Challenging Projects

Montroy DeMarco Architecture (MDA) has entrusted Sara Agudelo with leading some of her firm’s most prominent and challenging recent projects. She currently works on the massive redevelopment of a portion of the USPS Morgan General Mail Facility in Manhattan for Tishman Speyer.

She has also worked on multiple retail and office projects throughout the United States. These include six Zara stores; the U.S. headquarters of Lavazza; the $330-million Watermark at Brooklyn Heights luxury senior residence; and Martin Bauer office and food and beverage laboratory.

Agudelo became a licensed architect within only four years of graduating in 2013, and was able to accomplish this ambitious goal prior to the retirement of the Architect Registration Examination ARE 4.0.

These are just a few reasons we chose Agudelo to be one of the New York 2020 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s fourth annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.

She is actively involved in both professional organizations, including the American Institute of Architects, and charitable causes. This include frequent volunteering for God’s Love We Deliver, an Manhattan-based organization that provides free, nutritious meals to people living with long-term illnesses such as Alzheimer’s, Cancer, and HIV/AIDS. As a volunteer, along with her colleagues she works in the kitchen, assisting the nonprofit’s chefs in prepping and packaging meals. Agudelo is currently studying to become WELL AP certified.
