Greenberg Glusker partner Steven Lurie is a homegrown success story, having started his career at the Los Angeles-based firm as a summer clerk and through perseverance and dedication becoming a mainstay of the firm’s success. As one of the nation’s preeminent real estate attorneys, Lurie advises and represents developers, investors, borrowers, landlords and tenants in a variety of transactions.
In the past year, he was the lead lawyer on more than $2.5 billion in transactions involving real estate in 25 states and the District of Columbia. In 2019, Lurie was responsible for bringing in the most business to the firm, and he is on pace to do so again in 2020. He has also served on the firm’s management committee for the past six years.
Lurie has an impressive list of clients, including Majestic Realty Co., Principal Financial Group, Drive Shack, Inc., BrightView Landscapes, University of Southern California, American Golf Corporation, Concert Golf, Klingbeil Capital Management, LaTerra Development, Transpacific Development Co. and MGM Resorts International.
Clients turn to Lurie for counsel on structuring complex transactions and developing creative strategies to get deals done, believing he will find a way to help them achieve their objectives in virtually any situation. With the economic turmoil caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and associated government-mandated shutdowns, Lurie’s clients have increasingly turned to him to provide not just legal advice, but also business advice and judgment.
In addition to working diligently to ensure the success of his clients, Lurie is equally dedicated to helping members of his community through a variety of endeavors. Highlighting those efforts was his pro bono work for The Maple Counseling Center, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit that provides low-cost comprehensive mental health services to those in need.
