NorthPoint Wraps Construction on First Build at Republic Steel Site

Meridian Design Build recently completed construction on a 358,879-square-foot industrial speculative building for NorthPoint Development at the Avenue O Industrial Park, a master-planned development on the site of the former Republic Steel facility on Chicago’s Southeast Side. The project is among the city’s largest industrial developments in 15 years.

Meridian and NorthPoint worked together to implement an MBE/WBE participation program, exceeding the targets that were agreed upon by NorthPoint and the city. Participation by minority business enterprises exceeded the goal by more than $1 million and participation by women’s business enterprises exceeded it by more than $500,000.

“We’re very pleased to have been selected to work with NorthPoint on their first industrial building in Chicago, said Howard Green, EVP at Meridian. “It’s been extremely rewarding to see their investment in the city of Chicago result in opportunities and economic benefits for those that live and work on Chicago’s Southeast Side.”
