Landmarked Printer’s Row Building Trades for Apt. Conversion

3L Real Estate, which specializes in developing vintage residential properties, has acquired a student housing property in the Printer’s Row neighborhood from Columbia College. Terms were not disclosed, but 3L will reportedly lease back the landmarked property at 731 S. Plymouth Ct. to the college for one year, before turning it into rental apartments.

Calling 731 S. Plymouth “another building that is unique to Chicago and its rich architectural legacy,” 3L CEO Joseph Slezak said, “The Printer’s Row neighborhood is poised to grow stronger with its convenient location and access to the Loop, and the addition of nearby new commercial spaces like the Old Post Office that will be the new home for Walgreens’ offices.”

3L acquired the Johnson Building at 820 S. Michigan Ave. from Columbia College last fall. Currently undergoing renovation, it’s scheduled for delivery as a rental property in the summer of 2019.
