Swenson Revitalizes Santa Cruz Earthquake-Lost Site with MXU Community

San Jose-based Swenson completed construction of Nanda on Pacific, a 119,715-square-foot mixed-use community at 1547 Pacific Ave. in Santa Cruz. The property includes 79 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartment units, as well as ground floor commercial units.

The historic Park Pacific parcel has been brought back to life thirty-one years after two buildings, the Old Phoenix Building and the Williamson & Garret Building, were lost in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.

Swenson’s Jeff Huff notes Nanda on Pacific totals more than 74,000 square feet of residential on a parcel that sat vacant in the downtown core for over 30 years. He says, “this property provided a once in a lifetime opportunity to reignite the entrance to downtown Santa Cruz,” near cafes and restaurants, the beach, hiking and biking trails and UC Santa Cruz.

Property amenities include a Precor-designed fitness center, coffee bar, game room, dog wash station, digital concierge services, package lockers, underground parking, and bike storage.
