
Mack Conachen has joined as vice president and San Diego office director. Conachen has more than 15 years of experience in structural design, analysis and project management.
His work spans a wide range of project types including education, healthcare, biotech and laboratory design, architecturally exposed structures, renovation and rehabilitation projects, and seismic retrofits.
“His broad experience in diverse markets and his creative technical skills will further enhance our collaborative teams locally as well as in Los Angeles and San Francisco,” said Robert Treece, who oversees the firm’s Western U.S. region as senior principal.
Conachen will be responsible for the growth and management of the San Diego office, which has a number of high-profile projects including the University of San Diego’s Pepper Canyon development. Prior to joining Thornton Tomasetti, he was a senior structural engineer at IMEG Corp in San Diego.
“I look forward to building on our existing client base and helping Thornton Tomasetti strengthen its position in the healthcare and science/technology markets in the region,” said Conachen.
He is a registered architect in Wisconsin, and a licensed structural engineer and licensed professional engineer in California.
