Chicago-based Bridge Development Partners, LLC broke ground on Bridge Point Oakland, a 534,208-square-foot facility at 5441 International Blvd. in Oakland. The facility will be the single largest industrial development in the City of Oakland, and the largest industrial building delivered in 2021 in the Bay Area region.
The 23-acre property, acquired by Bridge in 2019, was formerly home to a General Electric transformer manufacturing plant, which operated for roughly 70 years before being shuttered in 2005. Bridge plans to demolish the existing structure and build a new, state-of-the-art industrial building, which will incorporate the original brick façade from the former structure into the building.
Bridge’s Greg Woolway says, “While the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic created some unprecedented challenges, BRIDGE was able to successfully finalize the entitlement and remediation approval processes and get this project to a successful groundbreaking.”
CBRE’s Kevin Hatcher, Robert Ferraro, and Austin Hinder will handle leasing for a facility slated to deliver Q3 2021.
